CCC Boys Basketball Tournament Rules
Twelve teams will be selected this year for the tournament. Four divisional winners and the next best eight teams. Regular season division champions get a first round bye. Next eight teams are seeded according to the procedures listed below. Playin round begins on Thursday of the last week of the season with the eight wildcards. Once these games are complete, re-seed the remaining 8 teams (four division winners and 4 wildcard winners) based on the procedures below.
Dates: Thursday, Feb. 26th – First Round at higher seed (Recommended time 7 PM)
Saturday, Feb. 28th – Quarter finals at Bristol Central-(Recommended times:
12 noon, 2 PM, 4 PM, and 6 PM )
Tuesday, March 3rd- Semi Finals at Bristol Central (Recommended times : 6 PM and 7:45 PM)
Thursday, March 5th – Finals at Bristol Central (Recommended time: 7 PM)
Procedures for Determining Divisional Standings, Play-off Participants and Play-off Seeds for Boys Basketball
I. Determining Divisional Standings for Tournament Purposes:
a. Best divisional record only (not including cross over games)
b. If a tie exists: Regular season divisional head to head results will be used.
c. If a tie still exists and the teams split their divisional games, then the team with the best record vs a team occupying the highest position in the divisional standings will be selected. Continue down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.
d. If a tie still exists: the team with the best record against the highest ranked common conference opponent will be selected. The highest ranked common opponent will be determined based on the percentage of divisional and mandatory cross over games only.
e. If a tie still exists: the team with the best records, including divisional games and mandatory scheduled cross over games will be selected. This will be determined on a percentage basis.
f. If a tie still exists: the team with the best record against the highest ranked (not common) conference opponent will be selected. The highest ranked opponent will be determined based on the percentage of divisional and mandatory cross over games only. Continued down through the standings until someone gains an advantage.
g. If a tie still exists: the tie will be broken by lot as drawn by the Commissioner or designee.
II. Determining Playoff Participants:
a. In a 12 team tournament the first place team in each of the four divisions will automatically qualify and receive a bye. The remaining 8 teams will be determined by section III Wild Card teams.
III. Determining Wild Card Teams:
a. The teams with the best record (including divisional games and mandatory scheduled cross over games) determined by percentage, will be selected.
b. If a tie exists:
i. Between two teams then regular season head to head results will be used.
ii. Between two or more teams then any head to head sweep by any team will place that team ahead of the team(s) it swept.
Notes: 1) this does not mean that all tied schools must play head to head. 2). Any team that sweeps another team(s) cannot be placed below the team(s) it sweeps, 3) once a team is removed from this tie breaking scenario, then the process starts over at step #1 with the remaining teams.
c. If a tie still exists then the team with the best record against the highest ranked (common) conference opponent will be selected. The highest ranked opponent will be determined based on the percentage of divisional and mandatory cross over games only
d. If a tie still exists: then the team with the best record against the highest ranked (not common) conference opponent will be selected. The highest ranked opponent will be determined based on the percentage of divisional and mandatory cross over games only. Continue down through the standings until someone gains an advantage.
e. If a tie still exists: the team with the best overall record of all divisional, mandatory cross over and interdivisional conference games will be selected. This will be determined on a percentage basis.
f. If a tie still exists: the team who plays in the division with the best overall record of divisional and cross over games determined by percentage will be selected.
g. If a tie still exists: the tie will be broken by lot as drawn by the CCC Commissioner or designee.
IV. Determining Play off Re-Seeding Procedures:
a. The teams with the best records ( including divisional games and mandatory scheduled cross over games) determined by percentage, will be selected as the higher seed.
b. If a tie exists:
1. Between two teams than the regular season head to head results will be used.
2. Between three or more teams then any head to head sweep by any team will place that team ahead of the team(s) it swept. Notes: 1) this does not mean that all tied schools must play head to head., 2) any team that sweeps another team(s) cannot be placed below the team(s) it sweeps, 3) once a team is removed from this tie breaking scenario then the process starts over at step # 1 with the remaining tams.

e. If a tie still exists: the team with the best overall record of all divisional, mandatory cross over and interdivisional conference games will be selected. This will be determined on a percentage basis.
f. If a tie exists: the team who plays on the division with the best overall record of divisional and cross over games determined by percentage will be selected.
g. If a tie still exists: the tie will be broken by lot as drawn by the Commissioner or designee.
V. Process:
a. If a tie must be broken, then the chairperson of the sport, the AD Sport Liasion, and the Commissioner will apply the above tie breaking procedures to determine the results.
