ICE HOCKEY (Boys and Girls)
Procedures and Regulations

A. All contests shall be governed by High School Federation Rules where applicable and/or as amended by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and the Central Connecticut Conference.
B. Games will be scheduled by mutual agreement of schools based on availability of ice time.
C. All attempts should be made to schedule school night (Monday-Thursday) contests to begin no later than 8:30 p.m.
D. The recommended length of warm-up time on the ice is eight (8) minutes for each team.
E. In the event of a tie, there will be one eight (8) minute over-time period. First team to score a goal wins the contest.
F. All teams within the same division will play each other twice during the season. Both games count towards the division standings.
G. The length of conference contests for junior varsity shall be three (3) 15-minute periods (no overtime).
H. The number of All-Conference selections will be twelve (12) per division. One selection must be a goalie.
I. Cross-over Games: The East Division will have a cross-over game with one team from the Northern Division and one team from the Southern Division. The cross-over game for the North and South Divisions will align with the divisional placement of each East Division teams’ standings form the previous year.
J. Tie breakers for divisional standings:
a. ‘Head to head’ record between the games versus each other.
b. ‘Goals against’ between the games versus each other.
c. ‘Goals against’ within the division.
d. ‘Goals against’ within the division and the mandatory cross-over game(s).
K. Medical coverage: refer to Medical Service section of these bylaws.
L. All student game personnel, sitting in an unprotected area, must wear head and facial protection while the ice hockey game is in progress. (A.D. Committee meeting March 21, 1996).
M. The coaches recommend that divisional re-alignment and CCC tournament structure be considered every two (2) years. (Rev. 3/96; 10/09).
