Windsor Romps to Second Straight Title

Windsor rolled to a 103-72 victory over Manchester in the championship game to claim its second straight CCC Boys Basketball Tournament championship at the Bulkeley High School Field House. The Warriors used a tough trapping defense that forced 32 turnovers and a combination of athletic scoring moves to put up the highest point total in CCC tournament history.
Windsor led 61-41 at the half as they downed CCC North rival Manchester for the third time this season. Jerry Buchanon led all Windsor scorers with 28 points while Jared Wilson-Frame chipped in with 23 and Mike Joseph added 16. Jaquel Edwards had 23 points, Chris Walker 19 and Tyrone Davis 12 to lead Manchester. Manchester ended a strong tourney run with an 18-6 overall record.
Manchester reached the championship round by knocking off previously undefeated and number one seed Hartford Public in the semi finals by a 69-67 score. The Indians led for much of the contest before the Owls battled back to tie in the closing minute. Jaquel Edwards, who led all scorers with 16, iced the win for Manchester by making a free throw with 14 seconds left. Hartford Public fell to 22-1 on the year.
Jarod Wilson-Frame got hot from three-point land in the final period to lift Windsor to a 74-66 win over Northwest Catholic in the other semi final. Wilson-Frame hit nine threes and scored 45 points to lead Windsor to its second win over the Indians this season and dropped Northwest to 20-3 on the year. The Indians led 45-40 after three periods, but could not stop Wilson-Frame in the final quarter. He hit three quick threes to open the period and put Windsor ahead for good at 60-57 midway through the period.
